Job Description

We are looking for an organized, energetic and sports minded individual to help us make the Spears YMCA's Sports Programs the best they can be. The Sports Director is responsible for organizing and implementing all youth and adult sports, and all other assigned special events. The incumbent will also o versee the hiring, training, and supervision of staff, recruit volunteers to develop a winning team, and develop and distribute team practice and game schedules through PlayerSpace.


Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college and two or more years related experience and / or training.

Essential Functions

  • Organize and implement all youth and adult sports programs.
  • Supervise and schedule practices, games and all personnel required at each event, including filling in as referee for games when needed.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule and supervise all volunteer and paid staff associated with branch sports functions.
  • Design and develop marketing materials for each program.
  • Conduct evaluations of each program.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget for the assigned areas within approved budget guidelines.
  • Carries out all association policies concerning management, administration and accounting procedures.
  • Communicates positively and effectively with all participants, volunteers and staff, including timely response to phone calls and requests for information.
  • Substitute for subordinate staff as necessary.

    Required Certifications

    CPR/AED, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogen training required and must remain current throughout employment. Training will be provided upon hire if necessary.
