While Basketball Operations runs the league's on-court activities, other departments manage relationships with television and digital media partners, develop marketing partnerships with some of the world's most recognizable companies, oversee the licensing of NBA merchandise, and handle a wide range of responsibilities that drive the NBA's success.
This role will help lead the efforts of the NBA Youth Basketball Development team to grow existing programs and develop new initiatives that promote the oncourt and offcourt development of competitive youth basketball players in the U.S. This position will serve as an important liaison to the grassroots youth basketball community and help the NBA and Jr. NBA expand its relationships across the youth landscape.
- Maintain and advance relationships with key grassroots basketball stakeholders including USA Basketball, NCAA, marketing partners and brands, club teams, coaches' associations, and facilities. Coordinate internal NBA stakeholders and liaison with USA Basketball and other program partners on USAB's expanded Junior National Team program focused on promoting player development in three key areas: 1) oncourt skill development, 2) offcourt life skills, and 3) player health and wellness. Support the growth and development of the Jr. NBA World Championship - a global youth basketball tournament for the top 14U boys and girls teams from around the world - by promoting participation from top teams that represent Jr. NBA values and developing programming to ensure a best-in-class experience for players, parents and coaches. Grow Jr. NBA network through new and expanded relationships with large youth basketball organizations and facilities. Support development and execution of Jr. NBA programming and new grassroots event platforms with key partners. Identify areas where Jr. NBA can drive positive change in youth basketball by establishing standards, creating appropriate incentives, and partnering with leading organizations.
- Ability to communicate clearly, professionally and persuasively (both verbally and in written form). Extensive project management and event management experience, with a demonstrated track record of success. Deep understanding of grassroots basketball, and extensive experience and relationships across the youth landscape. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, exercise flexibility as needed, and demonstrate sound professional judgment. Strong interpersonal skills; excellent at building and maintaining professional relationships and demonstrating the highest level of integrity at all times.
