About the Job

The successful Inventory Analyst will support the Wholesale (Specialty Retail, Majors, REI, International) channel decisions regarding inventory planning. The primary focus of the position is to develop, maintain and communicate inventory tools to maximize sales opportunity and minimize inventory risk. The position will have a significant role in the Wholesale Channel seasonal buildup planning and analysis. The Inventory Analyst will be the key contact for day to day operations related to the Wholesale Channel, marketing and promotions and cross channel optimization within the Planning Department, including communication and administrative duties.

Essential Functions:

1) Wholesale Support

  • Key contact for all Wholesale sales team communication for all matters related to inventory planning and flow
  • Maintain inventory levels necessary to meet projected sales demands through monitoring and anticipating the rate of sale
  • Develop excel based tools to review historical sales data to provide for accurate projections / weeks of life planning
  • Perform inventory planning and management, monitoring and analysis, and attend meetings for Wholesale Core Style Replenishment Program
  • Support the seasonal inventory buildup by providing clear and concise data and analysis on inventory performance at Wholesale for review with Sr Product Planning Manager.
  • Review style sell through and inventory levels to determine and review under/over-stock situations with Sr Product Planning Manager
  • Communicate information effectively internally with Allocator, Shipping and QA Managers regarding product flow and processing
  • Participate in Wholesale Channel cross functional meetings with Merch and Sales teams
  • Support inventory sell through by early identification of risks and opportunities as it relates to excess inventory
  • Support wholesale liquidation needs with refreshed liquidation model ats files, order and transfer management, and pricing analysis
  • Utilize SharePoint Planning site to communicate inventory reporting
  • Monitor and communicate Wholesale order entry throughout buildup process to identify opportunities and risks

2) Production

  • Participate in weekly Ship ability meeting to communicate back to Sr Product Planning Manager on wholesale production issues as well as partner with production to present solutions
  • Update and communicate reporting for inventory availability, top styles and rankings
  • Responsible for production lead times analysis and communication with wholesale team as it relates to preseason deadlines and in-season opportunities
  • Responsible to maintain Style Block status and data management to maximize ATS reporting

3) Inventory Management

  • Provide weekly reporting on inventory position, excess and deficits to identify ways to maximize inventory across channels by performing GSP sweeping / monitoring
  • Maintain wholesale seasonal size scales by merchandise categories and channels by analysis of sizing trends, missed opportunity, new size ranges and sizing exceptions
  • Support seasonal inventory sell thru by early identification of risks & opportunities as it relates to excess/deficits
  • Utilize and continue to build SharePoint Planning folders to communicate inventory reporting
  • Support seasonal data management needs by identifying and communicating carry overs, leap frog carry-overs, SMUs, seasonal price changes
  • Prepare, refresh and share Forecast Variance model reporting to wholesale sales management

4) Marketing Support

  • Point of contact for Marketing requests for inventory availability
  • Responsible for all data entry / upload of marketing event product orders
  • Communicate with Allocator, Shipping and QA Managers regarding Event orders and processing details
  • Responsible for post event reporting and direction to Returns and Accounting departments

Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in apparel buying or Inventory analysis or management (3-5 years required)
  • Retail Management System experience required, Full Circle preferred
  • Expert skills in Microsoft Excel and Proficient with Microsoft Office productivity suite
  • Understanding of EDI preferred
