Job Description
Reporting directly to the Director of Events, this position assists in the event management and operations of 19 intercollegiate athletic sports programs (including football and basketball) that compete in NCAA Division I level as well as special events and championships hosted in the USF athletics. The incumbent plans, organizes, and coordinates support groups within the Athletic Department, the University, and external groups. Provides Leadership and Organizational Skills prior to, and at Athletic Events to ensure that all home sporting events ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all in attendance. Serves as the main point of contact for security, facilities, concessions, operating equipment, visiting team, officials, and housekeeping. Ensures all assigned tasks are in compliance with department, University, American Athletic Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

DUTIES: Coordinates and oversees activities for at-home athletic events for assigned sports. Develops and implements policies, organizational goals, objectives, and operating procedures. Coordinates and prepares for special athletic events hosted by the athletic department, to include conferences championships, NCAA events, AAC events, and home events. Prepares and maintains administrative documentation with respect to events in sports facilities, to include preparation of post-game reports. Monitors and evaluates operational effectiveness required for improvement. Prepares and distributes event/tournament manuals to participants and relevant event management staff. Provides oversight necessary to monitor compliance with all NCAA, American Athletic Conference, and Athletic Department policies and regulations associated with hosting a home athletic events.

Participates in long-range planning meetings with regard to upcoming events and provides direction for these activities. Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.

Assists in managing departmental budgets for event management activities and coordinates resources and services. Coordinates and makes recommendations in the bidding processes and contractual services for athletic facility upgrades and maintenance needs.

Ensures policies are being met in terms of safety of the student-athletes, coaches, fans, and working staff. (Example: If a weather storm is approaching, it is the responsibility of this individual to ensure that everyone in attendance is abiding to protocol. Make recommendation to postpone game and discuss options with both schools to reschedule game if needed. This individual makes final decision when conditions are safe to resume play.) Ensures effective adherence to the applicable national, state, and university crowd control/safety/access codes and policies.

Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives. Recruits, employs, trains, supervises, conducts performance evaluations of intern and graduate assistant staff, and participates in employee problem resolution.

Acts as the University's liaison with USF coaches, visiting coaches, officials, media, NCAA and American Athletic Conference office to assess and meet home event needs. Creates Game Timelines, Labels Credentials, Assists in Facility Setup and Breakdown, Assists in Food and Beverage Dispersement.

This employee will be in contact with internal operations on a day to day basis to ensure that we have all information on events. The employee will also have contact with external contacts such as Fans and Donors at every event. Also has regular contact with media representatives.

Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Bachelor's degree plus one year relevant experience

Master's degree plus two years relevant experience
