Position Details: Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer and YSC Sports are looking for a undergraduate or graduate student intern to work with the Academy Performance Staff in Athletic Development/Strength & Conditioning. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Academy Performance Staff with daily work office, administration, data management, logistics, etc
  • Assist in administering and executing the athletic development/strength & conditioning program, game day and training team activations/warm-ups, cool downs, performance testing and any other athletic development protocols and activities
  • Assist and maintain athletic testing databases of past data, look for historical data trends and forecast trends, develop reports
  • Deliver small group and/or individual movement and activation exercises as required
  • Implement monitoring and assessment interventions as required
  • Ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the weight room environment is maintained within the facility
  • Act in an interdisciplinary role with other technical areas as required
  • Work with all Union Academy team’s U12 to U19 Academy, as well as the professional team(s) REQUIREMENTS
  • A team-player
  • Highly organized and process-driven individual, with ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
  • Must be an active college junior or senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in a Sports Science or Strength and Conditioning field (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physiology, Biomechanics, etc.)
  • Experience with coaching strength & conditioning programs, on the field and in the gym
  • Candidates must possess or be working towards CSCS, CSCCa, or another internationally recognized certification
  • Previous experience in soccer highly desirable, but not mandatory
  • Previous exposure to Professional Athletes and/or High Performance settings
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to communicate and work well in team environment
  • Problem solver with “can-do” attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) *This is an unpaid, academic internship. To be considered, you must be receiving academic credit* If selected for an internship with the Philadelphia Union the intern will be required to provide the following clearances:
  • PA Child Abuse History clearance
  • PA State Police Criminal Records Check
  • An FBI Criminal Background Check if you have not been a continuous resident of Pennsylvania for 10 years. If you have been a continuous resident of PA for the last 10 years, you may affirm in writing that you have no other convictions that would disqualify employment.
