Description

The Art Director for the Common Experience team works directly with the Design Director and helps with creating and executing interaction design experiences for each project that will run through all of our platforms.

SKILLS
Exceptional at digital art direction, understands design systems, and knows how to create the visual center for a project
Uses Nike's unique visual language to establish a holistic look and feel between all the pieces of a project
Is a master of visual language and understands how photography, video, color, typography, etc. work together
Is an expert at quickly understanding the problem they need to solve and can articulate it

COMMUNICATION
Provides clear, timely and effective design feedback for the team's work Exceptional at storytelling when talking about the team's work and their own Communicates and shares the team's design and strategy to creative leadership

TEAMWORK
Understands the creative process and is accountable to the Producer and Design Director Collaborates with the Producer and provides feedback
Collaborates with brand marketing and brand design on projects
Gives feedback to Sr. Designers and responds to feedback from leadership

LEADERSHIP
Recognized as an established Art Director in the industry and as a leader of Designers Influences the team and the studio with their art direction and strategy
Creatively leads teams from agencies and is able to oversee multiple Designers
Creatively leads and runs larger projects on the team that require multiple levels of coordination and direction
Serves as the main point of contact and provides guidance when working with external agencies

STRATEGIC THINKING
Has an in-depth understanding of art direction and design strategy
Creates guidelines and art direction for the team and cross-functional partners Creates and delivers high-caliber solutions to complex problems
Evolves and educates the team and stakeholders about art direction

Qualifications

  • 4+ years agency, in-house or start-up design experience and interactive work
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills within the team and with partners
  • An outstanding portfolio showcasing intelligent digital strategy and creative design solutions
  • A conceptual thinker and master of user experience with the ability to produce exceptional design work
  • Solid foundation in typography, layout, and general design
  • A passion for innovation and technology with a solid understanding of digital tools, trends, and infrastructure
  • Experience with creating websites and/or apps for mobile devices
  • Understanding of underlying technology is necessary. You don't have to be a developer, but you understand what makes things work
  • In-depth understanding of Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and Keynote
  • Experience bringing designs to life through animation; i.e. Principle, Flash, After Effects
  • Able to function independently and in a team environment
  • Able to lead and manage teams and large-scale projects
