WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Individual with strong and well-rounded PR/communication/social media and writing skills who can bring strategic, fresh and creative approaches to generate market-wide awareness focused primarily on the marketing and promotional side of the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena’s expanded landscape of sports, entertainment and community initiatives.
Develop and execute plans to create earned media opportunities that generate market-wide awareness for the organizational and event-driven initiatives of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena landscape, with a specific focus on marketing, ticket sales, corporate partnerships and other organizational special projects and areas.
Create strategic PR/communication plans that create awareness, ignite a call to action, help shape brand identity, achieve stated goals and objectives.
Prepare communications materials that include press releases, media advisories, social media content, presentations, message talking points and email correspondence.
Have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of local/regional media, and the awareness and ability to work with national media contacts and outlets too, as well as social media influencers.
Possess a strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital/social media with the ability to apply to overall communications timing and execution.
Conceive and create original content for feature stories for industry trades and other traditional and social outlets.
Pitch and collaborate with media to initiate coverage and storytelling. Set up interviews, coordinate media drops. Work with TV producers for morning shows and other programming appearances.
Plan and execute media events, press conferences, and publicity events.
Assist with internal communications to team members.
Learn organizational culture and operations to successfully have that translate “who we are” to the local, regional and global marketplace.
Maintain awareness of civic and community initiatives and events to actively engage and represent Cavaliers as committed citizens and partners.
1-3 years experience in PR/Communications/Marketing field.
BA in Journalism/Communications/PR/Marketing preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including nights and weekends.
Interview requirements: Must provide multiple writing examples and portfolio of work.
